1. Replace the fuel line and vacuum line on the fuel valve. 2. Add an ounce or so of ATF, Marvel Mystery Oil, or 2 stroke oil to your fuel. Some Savages have galling on the powdercoated "lubricant" on the carb slide. The oil lets it move more readily. 3. You have a sticking choke mechanism. It happens. 4. You have a bad sparkplug. Okay when the engine is cool, starts to short out as the engine gets hot. Could also be a loose plug wire at the plug or coil, vibrates loose.
You'll get other respones, but the most common fuel problems are the vacuum line, the plug, or a sticky float. Good luck, Savage problems/quirks are almost always minor in nature, and cheap to fix.
