2nd and 3rd gear

Is it just me, or does it seem like 2nd and 3rd gear are closer to each other than others on a 4 speed savage. I like how the 1-2 shift and the 3-4 shift feels, but if I rev out 2nd , it seem like I can only be in 3rd for about a second.

On a 4-speed 3rd is 37% higher than 2nd.
On a 5-speed 3rd is 38% higher than 2nd.
Gear staging seams quite normal.
