Good Deal?
10/18/05 at 15:24:00

I know of someone selling a 2001 pearl white savage with less than 3000 miles on it for $1000. It hasn't run in about a year. What do you all think? ???
how much damage could there be? I know it will need a new battery but do you guys think more parts will need to be  replaced. I just want to ask the pros  Wink

If it has not been wrecked, under water, or sitting outside for 5 years, jump on it.

If it hasn't been run for a year, I wouldn't worry about that too much.  Maybe the carb is gummed up, but maybe not. Maybe mild rust in the tank, maybe not. Charge the battery, and change the oil, and see if it starts. Sounds like a bargain to me.

I would think you should hear it run, and also check out the brakes- frozen? as well as the other things mentioned above.  If the owner can't wait until it runs before accepting the $, I'd be carefull.  Otherwise, a great deal.

Great deal - I bought mine for $800 after it had been sitting out through three harsh canadian winters without even a cover.  still using the same tires and it has never let me down.

sounds like a realy good deal to me, especially when you consider the year of build... a 2001 Savage for $1000,- I wish they were that cheap over here! Even with shipping it would be cheap for our standards!

It is a steal /I assume , It is not stolen/. If You know the bike was running when parked and if You know what You are doing , for under $100 and 1 day work it should be on the road. Without any hesitation I'd drive 5-600 miles to get it.
Don't even ask- go get it.

Sounds to good to be true. Make sure you check everything out. This year I bought a 1995 Savage with only 1200 miles. Looks brand new. New battery and the carb cleaned and it is perfect. I paid $2000 for it, he was asking $2500.
