Recent pics and asking opinion
04/10/06 at 08:42:08

Mods made in last couple weeks while it rained:

Smiley100% de-badged
SmileyBlack belt guard
SmileyAdded tach
SmileyLowered bars (just rolled them down a bit)
SmileyKnocked down the chrome toolbox and cylinder head caps (grinder)
SmileyAftermarket mirrors

Question:  Has anyone put knee pads on their tank?  Does anyone think that would look cool?  I am also thinking forward controls and I'm not sure knee pads and forward controls go together...just like I'm not sure low handlebars go with forward controls either...Is there any "right" or "wrong"??

Beautiful !!!!  Grin However, the tach's location/mount is somewhat ????? But then again, it might take time to grow with it. Where did you get the tach from? I would love to get one just like that. The bike looks great as is, I wouldn't add anything else to the gas tank. That's my 2 cents.

I wish I was good with a computer, but I know You can use PHOTOSHOP and create an image exactly the way You want it. You do it, You check it, You decide. Who cares what the rest of the world thinks? This is Your ride- You pay for it and You ride it.

I would avoid the knee pads.  Just my opinion, though...

handlebares:  go with what's comfortable...

The tach is a Custom Chrome 310226.  I had to modify the mount a bit and buy metric hardware, but I think I like it for now...It's like $85 on the Custom Chrome web page, but I got it new on ebay for $50 including shipping...

wow that is a sweet bike.  I like the tach location although I think it would be kewler if that was the speedo.  I think I would skip the knee pads.  Everything else looks great.  Teriffic job man Smiley

ps forward controls are awesome but expensive.  If you can get a custom made pair off here for cheap you can save alot of money.

Very nice looking bike.
To answer your Q's:

There's NO such thing as RIGHT.!!!!

If it feels and rides to your liking it's YOUR bike.

Never heard of anybody installing kneepads. Do give it a try and let us see what it looks like!

Forwards controls I like but with the straight handle bar I think the bar is too far forward. That's why I'm searching for S40 risers.

True, but I think  mating a sport bike fairing to a low slung cruiser would be pretty wrong.   Roll Eyes

I'm not sure it'd fit my aesthetics either but I'm sure a cafe racer style fairing would look better to me than a larger one.

I like your idea of putting on a set of vintage knee pads. I think an old thick set from the thirties would be right on.
