I have a 21" Memphis Shades on mine and I like it alot. I didn't like the OEM shieldas it seemed to take all the wind off my chest and put it right in my face. The 21" shield puts the wind over my head. Perfect in the colder temps and when its raining. Plus its easy to take off for when the weather warms up.

a matter of personal preference. i do not like looking through 3 lenses (glasses, faceshield, windshield), especially with blowing dust, which sticks to all three and makes visibility hazey at best. i do not like the low pressure/vacuum/reverse air flow behind the windshield. i do not like the distortion that the convex shape presents to me either. a windshield that rises to just below your field of view works best for me, it doesn't obstruct visibility, and the deflects over my head. debby likes the tall windshield on her HD.

The theory, as I understand it, is that you want a windshield to come roughly to nose level. That way it doesn't obstruct your view, and it still blocks your body and head from the wind.
Shape of the windshield can also have a big effect. "Classic" styled cruiser windshields have different characteristics than the more sporty ones.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, used-up, worn out, and defiantly shouting 'Geronimo!!!'

WOW! Lots of good info here Im about 5'4" the theory that you should be able to just see over the top makes lots of sense and Im going to try to adjust my shield as some one suggested, but I think I need something taller, the wind just hits me right in the face and trys to take my helmet off!!

Nose level is a good way to do it. If properly angled the buffeting goes over your head and you see over the plexglass not through it. In a driving rain you can slouch a bit and look through it.
