No need to remove anything. Just use a short philips head in a extension with a small rachet. To remove or install the bowl you might have to push lightly on the battery box.The main comes out with a short screwdriver

all good advice guys. I dont know why I never thought of this, I've drained the bowl multiple times with the bike intact, just never thought I could actually get to the jets without having the carb in the open.

If it's the 1st time or been a long time since it's been opened... you'll want to remove the carb from the bike. Those stock screws are a bear to get out and will likely strip out the head. And change them out for SS allen head screws so next time it's easy.

Yep, and the tank removes without draining!

Good Idea. Use a NEW phillipshead bit to get them out! The factory screws are very soft. I replaced mine without carb removal with quality Phillips head screws because I had them.
Bike was almost new when I did this

It's a matter of fact, some can and some can't.
Those that can't try to teach those that can that they can't but it don't work. We keep taking them off full of gas, and petcock still bolted to the bottom.
And we keep saying, gal darn, why can't I do this while it's empty?

the '95 will - it has the frame scratches right where the petcock hits to prove it!
naw I just drain them - pull the petcock - look the screen over - test the diaphram to see if holds a vacuum and such - quite easy to do - now how does one say tomato?

Black Duct tape (200 mph tape) on the frame where the petcock would touch.
My 2001 comes off with a little coaxing. I don't' take the petcock off because I've got a good seal between it and the tank and I want to leave it that way. If you decide to take it a part, plan to replace the o-ring every few years.
