My rear pulley seems to have a lot of play in it. I also have the belt squeak now also. It started around 3,000 miles and seems to be getting worse.

Yea I know you guys are gonna say to loosen the belt, (and I will try that), but I don't see how the belt could have gotten tighter over time and caused this?

Anyway how much play is to much in the rear pulley; like if I were to put a dial indicator on it and test that way.

I'm kinda worried about it because I've been pulling some wheelies, and probably stressing the bearing on the pulley. Undecided

Both ways, not just axial. Already searched... but some seem to say a little play in the bearings is ok. I guess it coldn't hurt to go with a better bearing. I'll run the belt a little looser also.

The only way I could do a power wheelie was to give it a little bounce and then yank on the bars full throttle till I dislocated my shoulders. So... pretty much clutch it up.

Does about 6" for 30 to 50 feet count???

Two friends on HD's (1-Fat Boy, 1- Heritage) at the light in front of me. They start rev'ing and giving each other "the nod". The light changes .... they're off and I'm right behind, honkered down a little..... I shift into second and the bike comes down.... Shocked

......
So smooth and straight I didn't even know it was up.....

Those are the coolest to me. I've done it a few times. Some guy will pull up beside me at a red light on a liter bike rumbling like a freight train. Then he'll glance over with a look of disgust on his face. "Hey is that a 250?" I usually just say "yes, yes it is" When the light turns green...I GO!!! Looking back in the mirror I can see his mouth wide open. He just got took by a 250. Why the hell does everybody assume this bike is a 250?

But to really get the front wheel up, you have to get the "revs" up a little, then release the clutch kinda fast but smooth. But I don't recommend doing that from a dead stop. If your not careful the bike might be riding you. Wink

Actually I don't recommend doing it at all; it's bad on the bike and also dangerous Roll Eyes

Back to the original point of this post. If I have some lateral play in the pulley (not axial) do I need to run out and get a new bearing right away? I checked the bearing after a 25 mile ride. Cool as a cucumber.
