Morning tranny noise?! HELP!
07/29/08 at 15:18:32
So, when I start up my bike in the morning, it's great. It is when I take off where the problem lies. For about the first minute of riding, I get a strange not grinding, not whining, but something in between noise from the left side of the crankcase. I'm running rotella t 15w-40. a cap of MMO every tank. 2004 savage, spacer mod, and mix adj. The noise is only in the morning and it is about 80
o
F. Never again throughout the day. Any suggestions?

See, that's what I thought, but it is only when in gear. If I squeze the clutch, it goes away. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the wet clutch not getting wet quick enough

That wet clutch is bathed in oil. No need to worry about it getting wet quick enough.......
unless you're low on oil
.......
Belt may be the issue. When you apply the clutch you remove tension from the belt. Did you use the hand/90 deg method to adjust tension???
A way to check clutch would be to go into neutral while rolling....

Well, I put some good ol' non-stick spray on the belt like some have mentioned in earlier posts. It is adjusted by the 90 deg method, not that piece of brass jewelry they call a tool. We'll see if that solves it. Thanks for the help guys.
