I just put the S40 away for the winter, but I kept out the 250 Ninja and my wife's BN125. With the chance of slippery roads I put away the torquer in favor of machines with less bottom-end torque.

At the risk of being called a heretic (or worse), compared to the '07 S40 the '07 250 Ninja is faster on top end, burns less fuel at similar speed and has a tank nearly twice as big, has better wind protection in stock form, has a tach and a trip odometer, and has less objectionable engine vibration at normal highway speeds. It also has easier battery access. But valve adjustments on the S40 are easier. I won't compare comfort, because that is subjective and not easily measured.

Many of us here have multiple bikes.  Which one we keep lit longest is interesting, as is understanding the why behind it.

I have shut down the squid bike and the touring bike, leaving the Savage as my short run around town bike of preference.  Most of this is based on use and convenience.  I need the wee bagger to run go get stuff all the time.  I want light and quick and need some carry capacity.

Nobody is going to bash you for liking your Ninja -- lots there to like in that little package.  I ranged up in power for my squid bike but there is nothing my 650 can do  at less than 100 mph that a Ninja can't do (and I can count the times I have ridden faster than that on one hand).

What I find amazing about modern bikes is that your right wrist controls your gas mileage -- Ninjas can get 60-70 mpg fairly easily but if you crank on them hard they can get 50 mpg or less.   This can be said for other bigger more modern fuel injected bikes as well -- go gently and get great gas mileage, ride hard and you get drastically poorer gas mileage.
