End of the Line?
07/31/11 at 12:33:22
I just looked at the Suzuki site to check out the 2012 bikes. They do not show an S40 for 2012. When you click on the S40, it shows a 2011. Could this be the end of the line for our beloved Savage?

If 2012 is the last year for carbed bikes, you'd think they'd crank em out for one last year of production. If this really is the last year, then I might have to look for a used bike as a backup.

Well, our beloved Thumper had a 25 year run ... not bad at all! There'll be good used ones around for awhile yet though!
Wonder what Suzuki has slated for a replacement? A F.I. TU650X?!!!! Man that'd be awesome!!!!

The TU 250 has FI- how hard would it be to adapt. It all depends what their sales figures are like. If they aren't selling well they will be discontinued, and when I visit the dealer, it appears that they have only sold one in 11 months.

The S40 isn't a big selling bike, the 2 dealers I know real good only sell about 1 a year, when you see a used one for sell its real low mileage. The problem with the bike is it turns to many rpms,To stiff rear suspension,Lite front end.

OK I'm going to show how little I know about these things but, are they still going to make replacement parts for them?

I would expect replacement parts will be available for years to come. Places like Ron Ayers and Bike Bandit have parts for many bikes much older than the Savage.

Will be interesting to see what they
replace it with if indeed they stop
production on the S-40..
No matter if I get another bike someday
or not, I plan on keeping Genie till she is
an antique and then some..
