Hey Guru's,

I have reason to believe one of the PO's of the bike put some crappy random car oil with friction modifiers and crap in, which in turn is causing me some very nice clutch slippage.

1. I took all the slack out of the release arm, and can confirm its between the upper and lower marks.
2. ive adjusted the clutch cable with 3mm of slack at the lever, and it still slips under power in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. (i can be crusing along in 4th at half throttle, and just open her up and hear the RPMs increase, with no pull, then a slight catch w little bit of pull not keeping up with the RPM increase )

Since I've read no one has worn the friction plates of a stock clutch yet, the only thing i can think of is garbage oil. ( unless im the first. anyone else with 29K or more ? )

If i swap my current "for moto" 10w-30 with some Rotella 10w-40 for diesels, how long should i run it before another change to clean all the old crap oil modifiers out ? Id like to avoid pulling the cover and doing it manually, however if its the only option, Im always ready to get dirty.

Also open to any other options/ideas. ( GTFO WITH YOUR SEAFOAM

NOTE: I just changed the oil to the "for moto" 10w-30 about 50 miles ago from the PO's who knows what.

Ive been putting lucas oil stabilizer in all my stuff and never had a problem. was thinking of just buying the barnett clutch kit and cable off eBay for about $130

Im sorry, but im not putting seafoam in my scoot PERIOD. Id rather deal with a slipping clutch, or pull it apart and manually clean it.

After just riding it 3 days a week, it seems to be working itself out. My suspicions of the PO putting garbage car oil in it seems right on.

+1 I dealt with the same issue... felt like it was slipping starting out in first gear. After checking plates, pin, and adjustments, changing to the correct type oil made all the difference in the world. Wink

Ive put about 600km on the bike and it hasnt seemed to 'clean itself', even with 4 oil changes in that riding period
