Hey guys, really need help here. I just went to take off my triple tree and repaint it after work because it was all pitted out.
Now I ant seem to get the fork caps back on and I am stuck at work.
Anyone have any tricks for me?

Have one guy push the caps into place while the other wrenches the caps to get them started. Be very careful to not crossthread the caps.

Good point...the front end should be off the ground.

I had one of mine whisle by my head and across the shop. I know what your going through. It would have been great if I had another pair of hands. One thing I did that helped was to take the spring out and start the cap on. Make a mark with a felt pen just before the threads catch. Mark the cap and the leg then replace the spring, line up the marks and try again. Good luck.

So, you had weight on it,,
I was walking up to a guy who was about to mess with the front end of his dirt bike. He didn't have a Jack under it. Just as I walked up,he finished unscrewing the second cap. The front end collapsed, oil went everywhere, he looked at me like,
What the heck just happened?
I was just the paper boy, looking to B.S. with him and collect the monthly fee and TRY to get him to hire me as a sacker at the store he was assistant manager of.. That day I just helped him get a milk crate under the bike..
FWIW, he did eventually get me on at the store.
