It's like I said earlier, you can't bring historical artifacts forward and judge them in today's understandings, it's not possible.....

Well, yes you can. The perception the average person will have will be different,

Then the reasons for doing so come into play, as that is fair as well.

Geez, I don't know why you can't see how history can not be reinterpreted by folks who were NOT there.
That is a really important mitigating fact, that IS historical context!

So, why are they wanting to destroy historical context then, their motivation for it?

Can I say for political points?
Or to promote an agenda?
Or, can I say Blacks lack the capacity to rise over the past, still tethered to that of which they didn't experience, as justification to, what, why?

It removes the real opportunity, the present, to address what is actually taking place, at the moment.
And yes, things still can always be better.

But having demonstrations, pulling down historical artifacts, will not do it.
Now, if a town wants to invest money , etc, into a new display, honoring the past of controversial issues, then that is the time to get involved and share real opposition in a way that can now have a positive effect in the future.

I ask, shall we remove Pearl Harbor?
Look at how it shows the the Japaneses Americans in a very poor manner, by race.

The folks who continue to utilize past scars on our nation, are simply pulling open the wounds, to fester again, so they can promote, themselves....

I believe this is a fair statement........

You get it now?

I doubt that if no memorials existed today that many would want them. Who knows how many WANTED the ones we have? People who have the historical facts today will see historical events through the same eyes as those who lived it,  won't they?
I'm not at all convinced that we have the facts on a bunch of stuff. The civil war is rife with controversy. The facts I believe aren't in agreement with the
It was about slavery
Crowd.
But I read what few bother with.
