Absolutely not.....

The guy is off his F'N rocker.
Its so 1950 mentality of dominance, etc.

We saw Obama try appeasement, to these rogue leaders, etc.
I credit him for trying something different, however if folks can't readily see it now, they really have no interest in surrendering their own factions and quest of their beliefs, etc, to a better, safer, world society.

Then I do not know what it will take to convince you that a threat exist, still, to our pursuits of happiness.

Personally, I am more afraid of a dog that doesn't bark, than one that does.....

Our military has been demagogued as the reason why "ill will" exist in this world, by many.
If you deny that, then no further dialogue will result in understanding.

However, this stunt by Trump, to USE our service folk as a prop, to bolster his own devious scheme, is frightening, and a real reason why folks who can, need to intervene and stop this insanity before its festers anymore.
But to evoke Hitler, is once again cheap, and lazy, argument.....

I won't even go into a disservice, and disrespect, of many victims who suffered way greater than any of us can imagine.

You find his "grandstanding" abhorrent, then don't grandstand other heinous historical events to bolster your own POV.

Where did I do that?  You're once again confused.

You understand now?

No, you border on incoherent.

I tend to agree with your description of the Democratic Party, Rawdawg.

I think we are both old enough to remember a working class party.
If anything, the republicans were the elitist with their wealth.
They were the business owners, etc, who pushed policies that favored them.

They did create jobs, and the opportunities for realizing the "er," American Dream, but it had discriminatory limitations, that's fact.

Its easier to convince someone they are a victim, and thus entitled, than it is to get them to believe that they can achieve their dreams, if they are willing to work towards them....

The democrat party WAS the party of common folk, who shared a common goal of acceptance based on solid principals of achievement.
This mindset was what drove the competitive spirit of sports, of always doing your best, regardless of outcome.
Even in losing, you won self respect.

Oh well.......

Totally Agree,
       USED  to be.
             Not now.

I believe, the leaders of the DFL, Saw the Pocket Stuffing,
Learned how it is done, and said:
“Gotta Get me soma dat !!!”

In 1974, Voiced a opinion on supporting, and voting for a person on the Township Board.
My Dad & Mom, Very Stanch  Democrats.
The Twp Board positions, were Not, ‘Party’, orientated,
(Still are not, as well as County Commissioners)
Yet, Everyone, Knew, the ‘Party’, the candidate aligned with.
   (Again still so today)

The person I was going to Vote for, was Republican affiliated,
my Dad asked me ‘why’,
I told him I believed the, other candidate, was taking Bribes.
And outlined the reasons why.
He said nothing, but I could clearly see he was disappointed.
Didn’t know if it was in me, or what I said.

The Democrat won.  2 years later,
he was  Caught, asking for and taking Bribes.
He, ‘quietly’, resigned, and promptly left the State,
(Think he went to Tuscan AZ)

So the Democrats, have NOT  been the,
‘ Party of the Average Joe’, for a long time.
Most possibly before JFK.
They are most Certainly not,  today.

So the, ’Swamp’ contains, Both  Rep/Dem, critters.
Who, take, what ever they can, however they can,
 regardless, of Party.

Yet, the Fairy Dust Sprinklers, have to much Dust in their eyes,
They Only Support  people, without, regard to Ideas.
And Condemn other people,  without, regard to Ideas.

And the, Kum-By-You singing, stand in the street criers.
Just Flock, to a ’New’ thing,
which the, ‘Owner’ of that, new thing, (party),
            sees a  Huge  Money  Gain.
Gathering ALL  the, ‘Donations’, from the Sheep.
Putting item in his Pocket.
Because they ‘learned’ Well, on who/what/how, to do.

Possible Solution?
Elect a person,
     Regardless how that person appears,
as to what we are used to in the Past.
Who wants to Drain a Swamp.
Get the Democrats, to KICK OUT,
The Snowflake, Fairy Dust Sprinklers.
And Take Over the Party,
Get the Republicans, to KICK OUT,
 The, ’supremacy’, type people.
   And Take Over The Party.

Then, ‘Keep they Heat on the Feet'.
And Support the work,
which the ‘Goal’ it is to, make thing better.

and this vet says, lets parade the two US ships we almost sank to show the world how good we are.  Of course, I was Army Cheesy

OK, lets have the Vietnam Vets (I am one) march in our 2nd place tee shirts.
The Liberation of Kuwait vets can wear their 1st place team shirts.
The Iraqi and Afghanistan vets can wear their (10 years and still trying) shirts.

That should make the Orange one proud (after all, he loved the Bastille Day parade and the French haven't done any better than us (but they do have sharper uniforms)> Grin Grin Grin

Sorry if this diverts a little too much away from the "parade" post....

However, I think it reveals one of the BIGGEST factors, that is driving this "Trump Mentality"

Selective application of freedom of speech.

As vets, which I am not, I signed up, did the lotto, etc, did my part, at 18, only to get a very high number, like 300, and the draft was slowing down then as well. Also, my hearing would have kept me home, as I can't pass hearing test.....

Anyway, you guys who serve mention to do the parade, in jest, I'm not sure, but to express yourselves while wearing certain messages on you T-shirts....

I think that is cool, but that is the problem too.
Berkeley spent millions of dollars in security, etc, when a conservative desires to speak.

At any Hollywood award show, you better NOT speak conservatism, while celebrating the diversity of intolerance visited on any deplorable(s).
Ditto late night TV, Classrooms around our nation, etc....

Look at Nancy Pelosi the other day....
In her floor marathon she said her grandson wished he had brown eyes and brown hair, while she pandered to the DACA issue....

WTF, that is like saying my son told me he wished he was Black, so he wouldn't dance like a white cracker  Grin

Its STUPIDITY on display at the lowest common denominator!

We will never fix a GAWD DANG THING........

UNLESS, we allow ALL dialogue to be spoken, good, bad, and just really ignorant, prejudice, sexist, and RACIST!

The libs have no problem drawing a conclusion that fighting differences militarily, only leads to more hate and division, of others nations countries, etc....
But fail to extend that same reasoning to domestic "fights", why?

BTW, the extreme right, is guilty of it as well, they just don't hold the media power/association, that the left enjoys, but use the "church" and other associated domains, NASCAR (?) as a bully pulpit to preach intolerance.

Look at the name calling, deflection, and minimizing employed by differing factions on this little message board.
You don't see it exampled by others, on the different areas like the Cafe, or Rubber Side down, why?

You will however, see the same characters practice their disdain, for one another, on those other areas mentioned above, why?

Why is civility the first asset we surrender when it comes to political/social dialogue, and a willingness to abridge the freedom of speech, expression, of others, in the hopes it promotes OUR BELIEFS over others?

What are we afraid of, being wrong?

What is driving this primitive emotion in us?

"... not fooled by him saying the parade is for us

Here is, Condemnation, of  a  Person.
          Not the Idea !

I Believe the idea of a, expensive Parade,
Is from, a/the, person who has the ear of the POTUS.

I think  25% of the people of this Nation, think it is a great Idea.
25% of the people, strongly object to the idea.
25% don’t give a, $hit one way or the other.
and 25%, Could, ‘sway’ a decision.
    ( +/- %)

Here is a opportunity, for people to explain their thoughts,
in a calm rational way.
NOT invoke name calling, and personal slams on the POTUS.
(Like we see on this forum buy a few posters)
In a letter, addressed to the White House.
Most certainly, the POTUS will never see/read them,
it will be a, Intern,  (Not Monica),
and the letters will go into these piles:
1. Nut Case.
 2. Concerned Citizen.
     A.  Support of the parade.
     B.  No support.

Then the ‘rank’, of the comments are communicated..
(A Letter, with a stamp, through the mail
is the Highest  ‘Rank’,   Much Much Higher than,
      a Phone call or a E-mail)

So it is a Choice.
Some will choose to stand in the Street, and CRY.
Yell derogatory remarks, while, standing in the street Crying.
And Cry, about no one listens to them.
OR
     Exercise, your  FREEDOM,
     Communicate with the elected person.
In a sane and reasonable way.

No, I understand that, I have many friends who went there.
Not many like to talk about it.
Seems the deeper into the war you were, the deeper their desire to forget it.

I was just wondering if you were alluding to the point since you served, you have more voice in our countries direction, etc.

Thanks.

I have no more voice than any other citizen, just one vote..

I don't like posers who make false claims about their service
it degrades the sacrifices combat vets have made

I am NOT a Vietnam vet (no combat), I served 1973 > 1977  during the Vietnam era
in an army tactical nukes unit

I was a draft dodger(no bone spurs)
I enlisted to avoid the draft
