Again, I am no fan of Trump. But I understand why he doesn't want to pay the price of USA always being the world police. That cost a lot of money and American lives. USA cannot fix the world alone, and more often than not wars just make things worse. A few times, like fighting Hitler, it was required. But Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan et al were disasters for all involved.

What's your opinion of a POTUS saluting an enemy general?...

I almost got an article 15 for failure to salute the general's child as he was driven car by me in the the General's limo with its stars displayed.  I told my CO I didn't respect the general's offspring because I didn't know him and the car was a POS, shoulda had an  MG cause that's what I drove.  And wasn't the flag only supposed to be on the car when the General himself was in it? (I asked so politely).

and no I don't know the answer to that, it was my best off the cuff defense.  (ps a cuff is a folded back layer of cloth at the end of each arm, or pants leg)
