I buy spray specifically for visors at the motorcycle shop.  I use a cheap micro fiber towel that is not absorbent (cheap ones from Dollar General), and after spraying and letting the cleaner soften up the bug goo a bit........the cheap towel smears the cleaner around without soaking any of it up.  I then use a better quality micro fiber towel that will soak up the cleaner and dry it off.  I wrap the cheap towel around the bottle and then the better towel around it and store it in the saddle bag.

In the old days we used Lemon Pledge on airplane windshields.  It works OK - but there is a lot of wax that needs to be wiped off and the towels need to be washed more often.

Plexus is similar to Lemon Pledge without as much wax - but it is a bit expensive for what it is.

Bug Slide is good.

Just about any motorcycle dealer will have an affordable spray cleaner.  I prefer the thin liquid cleaners to the thick waxy ones.

The visor cleaners are thicker than glass cleaner, and most likely lubricate the dust/dirt more while it is being removed.  I would think the thin glass cleaner might allow the dirt/dust to scratch as you wipe it off.  Also the glass cleaner dries quickly and may not soften the bug guts......most visor cleaners want you to leave the spray on for a minute to soften the goo before wiping.

Also.....I only rub in straight lines (across on the helmet visor and up/down on my windshield) - no roundy-round wiping.

The ride home yesterday saw A few little guys splatter, I'll pick up some cleaner today. I have several little rags from glasses I've had. Need to wash them.
I gotta get a windshield.. 75 & 80 mph ,because traffic was running that way for a while, it's stay with The flow or don't,, and the wind was gusting, YaKnow it's working hard when the mpg drops below 40..
And I see guys with no helmet.. Sheesh.

I've always used plain water on a microfiber towel and then dried the visor with a clean dry microfiber towel.

I keep a small piece of a microfiber towel (about 8x8") soaking wet and sealed in a ziplock bag, and half of a full size dry towel in one of my saddlebags to use when I'm on the road.

I clean my windshield with just water also. If the bugs on the windshield are really bad I just drape a wet( with warm water) microfiber towel over the windshield and leave it there for a while before I wipe. Then dry it with a clean towel.

I don't bother with the windshield unless I'm home or somewhere I have access to warm water, since the windshield is short enough that I look over it not through it while I'm riding.

Bugs on my helmet visor drive me crazy though, so I stop as soon as I can and clean them off.

With a new/newer visor, I'll get a micro fiber towel wet and wring it out some. Flip up the visor and lay the wet towel across the outside and let it sit to soften everything up. Then wipe gently with the same towel and follow-up with a dry one. I keep my garage towels separate and don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets which can put chemicals on the clean cloth that can smear auto glass, plastics, etc.

I also recently bought a motorcycle helmet cleaner kit from Cycle Gear that includes a few cool products. One is a spray freshener/odor eliminator which is great between washes of the pads. Good for hot weather. Another item was the visor cleaner which works really well!

Last stop of the trip,hit the dealership, all they had was MucOff. I took it. Comes with two rags. Both micro, one is smooth, the other Clearly states it is a Luxury Finishing cloth. Wet the visor, Tik-Tok,, wipe with the smooove one,,then, Finish,,Luxuriously..
The spray smells suspiciously Chemical-ish,but reviews are positive.

You just use the wax on your helmet,right? I was wondering if the love-bug  annual flying orgy was still bad enough to make people have to stop and scrape them off the windshield. In Mississippi we carried cardboard .
